Frequently asked questions
General
CAT is a model of therapy that can treat the full range of problems or diagnoses and so it is very versatile. It uses reciprocal roles as a base to understand relationship dynamics a person has within themselves, others and with the world around them. Behavioural patterns, and emotional responses are understood alongside this. This is collaboratively mapped out and can allow for a rapid shift in a persons understanding of themself. CAT is flexible and other types of therapies or therapy tools can be borrowed and used within the scaffolding of the CAT model adding to its effectiveness.
During a therapy session, you can expect a safe and confidential environment where you can discuss your thoughts and feelings. The therapist will guide you through various techniques to help you understand and manage your emotions and behaviors.
Therapy sessions are typically scheduled once a week. However, the frequency can be adjusted based on your individual needs and progress.
If you are going to miss a therapy session, please inform us as soon as possible. We have a policy in place for missed sessions, and we will work with you to reschedule or make alternative arrangements.
The ending of therapy is a planned process. CAT uses endings as a part of the work and so endings will be discussed during the therapy. Follow-up sessions may be scheduled to ensure continued support.
